Media Production major develops versatile creators who embody the technical acumen, foundational education, and collaborative mindset necessary for multi-platform storytelling. The curriculum prioritizes hands-on experiential learning experiences that utilize cutting-edge equipment within the John C. Hench Production Arts Studio and decode each step of the production process.
Courses introduce students to various storytelling techniques that lead to the production of live multi-camera news broadcasts, single-camera dramatic narratives, and journalistic audio documentaries. Students likewise learn the historical and theoretical tenets of media production, as well as encounter work made by a diverse range of professionals from around the world. The program also underscores the skills necessary for the teamwork environments of the media industries: active communication, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
