LAS Global Scholars Program/Bradley University Coordinated Global Scholars Program
Becoming a Global Scholar at Bradley University allows you to develop global and cross-cultural expertise and marketable skills in your field that get you noticed. Just as important, you will have a sense of community as a global citizen, both within and across Bradley’s Colleges. Along the way, you will become a better collaborator and leader, and have many opportunities to hone your intercultural communication and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills.
Program benefits include: Global Scholars designation on your degree audit and notation on your official university transcript; recognition by the Dean of the College; opportunities to interact with guest speakers, Global Scholars from all other Colleges at the University, Bradley alumni, and international students; specialized career advice and Smith Career Center programming.
The Global Scholars Program provides an opportunity for students majoring in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to gain substantive exposure to a broad spectrum of global and cultural forces. The required coursework spans several academic disciplines, introducing students to relevant content framed in a global setting. This program seeks to stimulate students’ intellectual involvement in global affairs and helps those students wishing to pursue international opportunities. The Global Scholars Program is based on the following Academic Mission:
- A cross-disciplinary program of undergraduate study designed to offer students a background in global studies. The term “global” means a phenomenon or force that is worldwide in scope. We use the term to include both global systems and the diversity of cultures therein.
- A focus on diversified study within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences aimed at expanding cross-cultural and global knowledge, buttressed by world languages, general education courses, and study abroad.
- A spotlight on global knowledge that is useful for developing information and skills needed to succeed in a competitive job market.

World Language: complete at least one semester. Language may be taken in conjunction with a study abroad program. Please consult the Undergraduate Catalog, World Languages Courses.
2. One globally focused 1-credit seminar, with an additional seminar recommended
The required globally focused seminar is LAS 125 Global Topics in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
If students take a second seminar, it should be from a College other than their home College.
Choose from: CFA 300 CFA International Option Seminar, EGT 301 CCET Global Scholars Seminar, EHS 300 Professionalism Across Cultures, I B 101 International Intellectual and Cultural Events + other seminars as approved by College Global Scholars Coordinator/Advisor.
3. Participation in an approved international cultural study-abroad experience

Studying abroad gives students a deeper understanding of the institutions, history, and languages of other societies and cultures. Students in the Global Scholars Program must participate in a university-approved study abroad program for a minimum of 1 credit hour. Bradley provides a variety of study abroad options, including programs offered during Bradley’s Interim and Summer Sessions as well as during the academic year. Study abroad is available to students throughout their academic career in a wide range of academic disciplines at over twenty academic institutions in eighteen countries.
Participants taking any of their required Global Scholars coursework abroad will receive credit for fulfilling both the course and the study abroad requirement. 4. Internationally-focused campus and community student engagement opportunities
Students must attend three globally-focused events each year in which they are enrolled as a Global Scholar, or be a member of three globally-focused organizations; or a combination of these two requirements, to equal three total organizations/events per year. Consult the LAS Global Scholars Coordinator/Advisor for reporting requirements.
MINIMUM GPA: 2.5
