Graphic and User Experience Design (BFA)
Department: Art and Design
Graphic and User Experience Design is a major in which practitioners are highly sought after and well compensated. Our major provides students with all the tools they need to enter the workforce as design professionals. Equipping students with competencies from both disciplines enhances their overall proficiency and better prepares them for the workforce.
Students will master the skills to create designs that prioritize people's needs, enhance functionality, and spark emotional connections. Whether students are designing an app, creating design collateral, improving a website, or reimagining a product interface, they'll learn how to craft experiences that feel effortless and meaningful. For those passionate about problem-solving, innovation, and human-centered Design, this program offers a path to making a real-world impact. Students will take the skills they have learned into personal growth and meaningful career paths, as artists and designers increasingly play an active role in shaping society and their environment.
A BFA is generally more valuable than a BA or BS for students aiming for professional design careers because it provides deeper, more hands-on training in art and design. It better prepares students for graduate-level programs and positions that demand strong creative and aesthetic expertise. It is ideal for those pursuing a dedicated, directive design path, while a BA/BS is suited to those seeking a broader educational experience.
