Education Studies Minor

The education studies minor is designed for non-teacher education majors interested in understanding effective schooling and best practices in teaching and learning but do not wish to pursue a state teaching license. The minor provides students in majors such as psychology, kinesiology and health science, and public health education with the information, experiences, and opportunities necessary to gain in-depth knowledge of educational theory and practice that can be applied to their current major as well as to their future career goals. The capstone courses in the minor allow students to integrate their knowledge of educational theory and practice with knowledge of their major, their volunteer, employment, and leadership experiences on campus and in the community, and their career goals by completing a customized project and engaging in an immersive internship experience. Students who select the education studies minor may choose to intern - and later seek employment - in schools, park districts, community agencies, and non-profit organizations that serve children and adults.
