Master of Science in Nursing - Nursing and Healthcare Leadership (Online)

This 34-37 (BSN entry) - 46 (ADN/Diploma/RN with a Non-nursing Baccalaureate Entry) semester hour specialty in the MSN program prepares graduates for executive nursing leadership roles in a variety of health care settings. Students complete 500 hours of practicum with experienced nurse leaders. ADN/Diploma/RN and non-nursing Baccalaureate entry students complete an additional 50 practicum hours in the community health setting. Graduates with a major in Nursing and Healthcare Leadership are prepared for first-line management as executives in a variety of health care settings, and for future doctoral study. At the completion of the program, graduates may sit for the various nurse executive or leader certifications administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL).

Capstone Project in Nursing

Students in the MSN Nursing and Healthcare Leadership track must complete a scholarly project in nursing to meet program requirements. Students will collaborate closely with a nurse leader to assess organizational processes, identify areas for improvement, and develop a plan to implement evidence-based, data-driven solutions that enhance healthcare delivery systems.

Admission

Applicants must meet all admission requirements of Graduate Education. In addition the Department of Nursing requires:

ADN/Diploma/RN with Non-nursing Baccalaureate Degree Entry

  1. Applicants must have an RN degree from a CNEA or ACEN accredited Diploma or Associate’s Degree nursing program, or with a non-nursing baccalaureate degree.
  2. Proof of a current unencumbered nursing license.
  3. A nursing grade point average of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale.

BSN Entry

  1. Applicants must have a BSN degree from a CNEA, ACEN, or CCNE accredited nursing program.
  2. Proof of a current unencumbered nursing license.
  3. A nursing grade point average of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale.

*Applicants with deficiencies in the requirements will be evaluated on an individual basis.
